How do YOU want to show up?

I have a new client who confessed to me that she’s worried that clients won’t stick once she starts coaching.

And it got me thinking about how important it is to show up in a way that we’re proud of disregarding the response we get from others.

Back in 2012, I got in a huge fight with a family member.

We didn’t talk for 5 years.

Then, in 2017, my uncle died and I knew we’d see each other at his Celebration of Life.

But... I didn’t know how she would act. And I was nervous. (I’m not one for confrontation).

Since I couldn’t control how she'd behave, I knew that the only thing I could control was my own behavior. And so I reflected on how I wanted to behave in the situation.

How did I want to show up? What would make me the most proud of me in this situation?

And I did that.

I showed up as a loving, caring human being.

She showed up as a cranky pee pants.

I still showed up as a loving, caring human being.

She was less of a cranky pee pants.

I kept showing up as a loving, caring human being.

By the end of the day, she was civil.

And not giving me the stink eye and making snide remarks every time she saw me.

I left feeling completely proud of myself for showing up how I wanted to show up.

So what does this have to do with coaching?

Have you ever had the experience of telling what you thought was a funny story to a friend and had her laughing along with you?

And then telling that same story to someone else and you didn’t even get a chuckle?

Same story.

Same delivery.

Two different people with their own ways of thinking.

See, we cannot control how our clients receive our coaching.

It’s out of our hands.

What we can control is how we show up for ourselves.

Each and every session decide how you want to show up. For you.

What’s going to make YOU the most proud?

Do that.

And don’t worry about the rest.

Some clients will get you and LOVE you.

And some won’t.

And that’s okay.

Because you showed up for you.

With love & joy,

Selena

P.S. This works for emails too.

Last Sunday I sent out an email to my list entitled:

The "why I do what I do" document (in response to an "eff you" email)

I got 15 replies to that email ranging from "Good Message" to "Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to hear today."

I also got 35 unsubscribes.

Same email.

Several years ago, I signed up for a course on selling from a coach who promised we could increase our conversion rates by 50%. That would be amazing if it were true. But it wasn’t.At least for me. About every 10 minutes in the course, I thought, “There’s NO WAY I’m doing that.”Her approach was hard selling at

Yesterday a gal on Instagram sent me a DM after she’d read one of my posts… “What the heck is a coaching framework?” Great question! If you’ve been around for awhile, you’ve probably heard me mention how important it is to have your own proprietary, unique to you coaching framework. But… what exactly is it? Simply put, a Coaching Framework

She’d led a very successful career working her way up the ladder in a well-known Fortune 500 company. And then she left her corporate career to go off on her own and start
