Are you making your website all about you?

In the past couple of days, I've been talking about the 6 website mistakes I see coaches make when first getting started...

  1. 1
They fuss over the domain name.
  2. 2
They futz with it for way too long.
  3. 3
Their website is all about them.
  4. 4
    They stress over the logo.
  5. 5
    They stress about their "brand."
  6. 6
They have an "If I build it, they will come" kind of attitude.

One of the biggest mistakes I see coaches make is that they make their website all about them.

Big gigantic pictures of themselves.

Their story.

Why they're amazing — certifications, awards, etc.

Put yourself in your ideal clients' shoes and go to your homepage. Don’t scroll down. Just look at what you see.

That area at the top? It's prime real estate.

Are the words quick and easy to read?

Are they about your ideal client avatar and the transformation they want?

Research has shown that people spend about 5 seconds on a homepage when visiting for the first time.

That means that you only have 5 seconds to capture their attention and get them to keep reading.

If that prime real estate at the top of your page is about you, they’re going to pop off and move on.

You’ve got to talk about them. And what they want. What they need.

On my homepage, [tramayne.com](http://coachinggeniusquiz.com/), you’ll notice that I ask a question “Are you looking to grow your coaching business?”

That is directed to my ideal client avatar. If someone is not a coach or is not looking to grow their coaching business, they will move on.

However, if they ARE looking to grow they’re coaching business, they will most likely read the next sentence.

And notice…

“Are you looking to grow your coaching business?”

... is all about them. It has nothing to do with me.

I do have a picture of myself up there because I am a coach and, hopefully, they'll be working with me at some point.

But you'll also notice that it's not huge. Doesn't take up the whole space.

It's just big enough to show them that I'm human, friendly, and able to smile. 😉

Ok. Your turn.

If you've got a website already, go check out your homepage and see if your messaging clearly represents what you can do for your ideal client avatar.

If you don't yet have a website, put this in your back pocket until you're ready.

With love & joy,

Selena

Several years ago, I signed up for a course on selling from a coach who promised we could increase our conversion rates by 50%. That would be amazing if it were true. But it wasn’t.At least for me. About every 10 minutes in the course, I thought, “There’s NO WAY I’m doing that.”Her approach was hard selling at

Recently I set the record straight that growing a business can be simple, but not always easy. And like many things that are difficult, it’s worth it. Because on the other side of this challenge is a more confident and more capable you. And a life where you make good money doing meaningful work that you love. Now to get there,

Tired of selling yourself as a coach?

Yesterday a gal on Instagram sent me a DM after she’d read one of my posts… “What the heck is a coaching framework?” Great question! If you’ve been around for awhile, you’ve probably heard me mention how important it is to have your own proprietary, unique to you coaching framework. But… what exactly is it? Simply put, a Coaching Framework

A few days ago, I was talking with a friend who’s been struggling to find new clients. She’s a very smart and accomplished woman. She’d led a very successful career working her way up the ladder in a well-known Fortune 500 company. And then she left her corporate career to go off on her own and start
